William "Bill" Boyer Obituary

William J. “Bill” Boyer, 87, a lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Born in Taunton on April 29, 1939, Bill was the son of the late Eugene Boyer and Alexandria (Levesque) Boyer. He was raised and educated in Taunton and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.

Bill was the devoted husband of Virginia (Victorino) Boyer, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered around family, creating countless memories over more than six decades together.

A dedicated and proud Military Veteran, Bill served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.  A hardworking man, Bill spent 35 years as a truck driver for McCabe's. Outside of work, he generously gave his time to the young people of his community. He coached Taunton Minor League for 10 years and also coached CYO basketball for five years at St. Jacques.

Bill enjoyed the simple things that brought him happiness. He loved skiing, playing cards, collecting stamps, and watching sports. He also especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Virginia. Of the many places they visited together, Alaska held a special place in his heart.

Above all, Bill cherished his family. In addition to his beloved wife, Virginia, he is survived by his three sons, Michael Boyer and his wife Sandra, David Boyer and his wife Laurie, and Scott Boyer and his wife Patricia. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought tremendous joy to his life.

Bill is also survived by his brother, James Boyer of California. He was predeceased by his brothers, George Boyer and Robert Boyer.

Bill will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man who worked hard, enjoyed life, and treasured the time he spent with the people he loved most. The memories created during his 87 years will remain with his family for generations to come.
