Yvonne G. Gonsalves

Miss Yvonne G. Gonsalves died suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Morton Hospital and Medical Center in Taunton.  She was 98. Born in Taunton, MA on November 30th, 1922, Yvonne remained a lifelong city resident. She attended Taunton Schools, and was employed for 40 years at American Biltrite in Stoughton, as well as many years of employment at Coppercraft in Taunton and Zayre’s/ Ames Warehouse in Mansfield.  She was the daughter of the late Mary (Silvia) and Joseph Gonsalves. Yvonne was a devout Catholic and was a long-time communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton.

Yvonne enjoyed many pastimes across the decades, including-dancing, sun bathing, penny sales, bingo, card games, shopping, traveling, lottery tickets and dining out. 

Yvonne is pre-deceased by nine brothers-Joseph Gonsalves, Manuel Gonsalves, Edmund Gonsalves, George Gonsalves, Gabriel Gonsalves, August Gonsalves, John Gonsalves, David Gonsalves, Mario Gonsalves, and three sisters-Mary Gonsalves, Dolores Perry, and Irene Fraga. All were residents of Taunton. She is survived by two remaining sisters-Angeline Davis of Georgia and Jeannette Valcovic of Taunton, MA. She is also survived by extended family members of the Arguin and Larivee families, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends. 

Visiting Hours will be held in the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, MA, on Sunday, July 11th from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday, July 12th at 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Jude the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton Street, Taunton MA. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton. Please feel free to wear flashes of red to the funeral to celebrate Yvonne with her favorite color. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
