Lillian E (Smith) McLaughlin

Lillian E. (Smith) McLaughlin passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24th, 2021 at the age of 83 with her granddaughter by her side. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. McLaughlin Sr. Lillian was born in Taunton on March 5, 1938 to the late Byron and Violet (Goslin) Smith. She resided in Dighton for many years and worked until her retirement at Texas Instruments as a Secretary. After her retirement, she dedicated the next 25 years as a foster parent to countless children for whom she cared for deeply.

Lillian leaves behind her sister, Charlotte Francis of Rhode Island, grandchildren, Rhianne McLaughlin of North Dighton, Amy Licht of Taunton, and Aaron McLaughlin of Colorado, as  well as several nieces and nephews.  Lillian also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Emmy, who she absolutely adored. In addition to her late husband and parents, Lillian was predeceased by her sons Dennis McLaughlin and Joseph P. McLaughlin Jr., sisters; Harriet Nunes, Evelyn Bennett and Marjorie Desrosier and brothers; David and Samuel Smith. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
